I-496 has become one of the top places for cops to catch speeders. It’s a 55mph highway that goes directly through Lansing and because it’s been nicely redone (big surprise for Michigan roads) everyone wants to go about 70mph. Cops quickly caught on. They usually are found just west of the split of 127/496 or the East Lansing exits, or just east of the Waverly Road entrance ramps. This is covered by LPD motorcycle, regular LPD, Lansing Township, and Michigan State Police occasionally.
