I-59 Corridor

Fort Payne, AlabamaApr 19, 20101 Comments

Heavy patrolling and harassment of out-of-state drivers. My 75-year old father was stopped when he wasn’t speeding and forced to unload his trunk because the officer accused him of drug-running.

Comments:
Can't be the section of I-59 between GA State Line and Collinsville! Only 1 AL State Trooper works this county. And, under Alabama State Laws, Ft. Payne PD and De Kalb Co. Sheriff's Dept. are NOT allowed to issue tickets for speeding. A former State Senator has a bill passed (after he got busted by a local PD for speeding 35 mph OVER the limit) that prohibits a law enforcement department from issuing tickets if the population of the city is under 14,000 or tghe county population is under 25,000. Unril the 2010 Census is released, Ft. Payne and De Kalb Co. do NOT meet the minimum numbers!
