I-787, Alt. 7
I-787 to Alternate 7 is a good way to avoid the bottom of the Northway. However, state and local enforcement is out of proportion to I-87. Also, I-787 and alt. 7 have 55mph post as opposed to 65mph on Thruway and I-87 north of exit 8A. NYSP Troopers, County Sherrif and local Albany/Watervliet/etc. patrols are encountered here, moving and median- based.
