I-81 at the 215-217 mile marker

Augusta, VirginiaSep 01, 20015 Comments

The posted speed limit is 70mph but the officer in the unmarked chevyimpala charged me with going 80 in a 65 mph pace which makes it look to me as though I was actually 15 mph over the speed limit instead of 10 mph. A good way to make extra cash for the county eh? He was hiding in the group on the right going 65mph.

Comments:
yes this is a road trap its call a rolling road trap and its not legal in virginia

The Speed limit on 81is 65 mph ... not 70 ... So if you were going 80 ... you were going 15 over. The signs are clearly posted!

Actually, it is not a speed trap. All officer's in the Commonwealth are monitoring the interstates for speeding, poor driving habits. If you are not driving the posted speed limit, then you have no beef.....

Drive this section of north and southbound 81 everyday. I have seen speed traps at most 6 times. Usually during the return to college or holiday seasons. It is usually an area where one can speed with impunity, although the speed does change between 65 and 70 depending on direction. Troopers usually hide behind the overpass.
