I-85 North and South

There will often times be a State Trooper or a Davidson County Sheriff patrol car waiting to catch speeders between Thomasville and the Turnpike Road exit just across the line in Randolph county. Once, I exited off
I-85 onto the Turnpike Road exit at night and there was a State Trooper car parked facing me on the median of the exit! I am talking right up at the beginning of the exit, where it first splits from I-85. Because it was at night, it would have been very easy to become startled or accidentally hit the State Trooper vehicle. I even thought about calling into the NC Highway Patrol Headquarters after that to complain about unsafe positioning of NC HP vehicles.

I have not gotten a ticket personally on this stretch, but they are almost always there and you really have to watch out. This is one of the worst areas of I-85 between North Charlotte and South Greensboro, in my opinion. Police vehicles are everywhere on this section of I-85.

I have also seen Davidson County Sheriff patrol cars parked on the side of I-85 on the RANDOLPH COUNTY side of the border…I am talking like a quarter to half mile across the border. I dont know if that is legal or not. But I have observed it more than once.
