I-90

Received a ticket 3/7/99 and since I am in the Army in Watertown, NY, knew I could not appear at their assigned court date so I signed ticket "guilty" and returned (as instructed) for them to notify me of amount owed. I did not hear from them until September when a "Failure to Report to Court" was mailed to my home in Alabama. After calling Canastota Court I was informed I would have to wait for them to mail a form for me to sign admitting guilt…It did not matter that my unit was scheduled to leave for Bosnia in a few days.

To make a long story short, my parents took the fine amount out of my account and paid this by postal money order and sent it certified return receipt to show it was received by the deadline. Their letter said if received by the deadline my license would not be revoked. I have proof that it was received by the deadline and they revoked it anyway. So far, correspondence has been sent to the Town Court, to Mayor of Canastota Mark Lavonas and Senator Moynihan and no one has had the courtesy to even answer the correspondence…and I have certified return receipts to show that my correspondence was received by the town court and the mayor. AVOID THIS TOWN ON YOUR WAY FROM SYRACUSE TO ALBANY!
