I-95 northbound approaching Gateway Blvd.
This is the trap described above, but it’s about 1 mile before Hypoluxo Rd., not AT Hypoluxo. FHP troopers stand on the northbound entrance ramp with lasers. There is a line of trees behind them that prevents seeing their silhouette. 4 to 6 other troopers in cars wait out of sight at the base of the ramp. They nail people who have been speeding through the construction area just south of the intersection. This is one of the best-justified traps I’ve seen. It’s a dangerous area, heavily-travelled, and speeders get what they deserve. Fines are doubled when workers are present. NOTE: There is a FHP Camaro working this district with a low-profile light rack. It’s really hard to spot as a police vehicle until is’s too late.
