I20 from ga state line to anniston

Anniston, AlabamaApr 04, 20103 Comments

Speed limit has dropped from 70 to 55 as of march 17 2010. This 40mile section of road is now a hugh speed trap!!! Local news says the road contitions are soo bad that the police had to lower the speed limit. The road is old, but very fine.

Just watch out!!!

Comments:
In all fairness, a young S.C. mother was killed on I-20 due to a bad pothole. The pothole had been repaired several times and continued to break up after each repair. The state does only "patch" jobs on potholes and expect them to last for another 20 years. I don't like the reduced speed, BUT, it is for your safety.

I was stopped on 1/9/2011 with the same story. Trooper said speed limit from GA state line to Birmingham was 55 MPH although there were numerous 70 MPH signs visible. This was a sunday and there was no construction going on in any of the construction zones. Trooper ticketed me for 73 in a 55, which was actually 3 miles over the 70 MPH limit. Fine = $217.36. To contest in court in 2 months would be more expensive due to court costs, etc. This is a definite speed trap and a travesty of justice! The state of Alabama should be ashamed of itself. I have written the Governor but expect no action.

This is a long stressful stretch of hwy. The signs say 55 mph but no one is doing less than 65 or 70. Should I drive 55 with everyone flying by, or should I gamble and do something in between. It reflects badly on the state and discourages me from even wanting to go there.
