I35 North and South

Italy, TexasFeb 25, 20133 Comments

There is NO reason why I35 is NOT 75 mph on the strecth of highway that passes through this town. You can see for miles, there is minimal amount of traffic entering and leaving the highway, and the traffic on the roadway flows well. The only reason it is 65 is so they can make enough money to keep the town a town. I was in the right hand lane keeping pace with a truck in front of me while other traffic was passing in the left hand lane. When we came over a hill I saw the police on the right shoulder. He lit it up but i assumed it was for someone in the lane of cars passing me. Nope, he pulled me over. If that was not bad enough, now trying to deal with the public “servant” at the municipal court has just compounded the problem. I go up that highway routinely on trips to Dallas and will NEVER stop there for gas or food or anything else for that matter.

Comments:
There is enough trafffic on I35 South that banning the businesses in this city would cripple it. I encourage everyone to watch their speed going through this joke of a town and do not stop for food or gas or anything else along the way. The Court Clerk/"public servant" is an uneducated, clock puncher who needs to find employment elsewhere.

The speed limit in Italy is completely unrelated to the town. Italy sits just inside the Ellis County line, which has been designated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a air quality non-attainment zone. As a result, the speed limits in non-attainment counties have been lowered to improve air quality, which is why the speed limit jumps to 75 just south of Italy when you cross the Hill County line. Still need to watch out when passing through Italy or Milford, as this is a hot-spot for police activity.

I guess the EPA decided that lower speed limits are not needed any more. Hurrah! 75 through to Waxahachie, then 70 to Dallas.
