I5 Southbound – just before, at or after the Audobon exit
2-3 miles North of Mount Shasta, Southbound traffic crests the Black Butte summit. 1.5 miles later, the Abrams Lake Road exit and overpass provide an on-ramp the CHP like and a brushy median to hide in – both 1/2 mile before and 1/2 mile after the Audobon overpass. Beware – the long, straight downhill stretch is often travelled at 75-85 mph by traffic flow. CHP won’t tolerate anything over 70 here (Limit is only 65 mph), so slow down and keep your radar detector on.
