In their only two school zones

Lake Forest Park, WashingtonApr 13, 20102 Comments

Officers park around curves and issue speed citations as you come around the corner and pass the school zone sign. You WERE doing below the speed limit, but now you’re in a school zone.

BAM! Double fine, can’t reduce the ticket, and the local judge will throw the book at you if you come to court.

Comments:
Just so you know, all of Lake Forest Park has very aggressive speed laws. You will find bicyclists and dog walkers and kids are all about. The police do overkill on speed to make this a safer place for them. But, I do mean overkill. The only place where some conflict is obvious is Perkins Lane, a windy little lane cuts between some main roads along a stream.... a story book trees bowed overhead beautiful couple mile long road. Here, there is no shoulder most of the way, Joggers, walkers, and bicyclists are down there. You can;t see around some of the corners until your right on them. I see why police ticket there but, I really think it is dangerous because to go around them you also cannot see oncoming traffic. To my knowledge, no deaths,,,,, but whew.

The city has gone to far and a simple protest might be the way to go. Always drive 5 mph slower than the speed limit in camera zones (the Lake forest Park Police will ticket you even if you are going the speed limit so go substantially under it). Give your horn a few good blasts just let everyone know that this is not an acceptable way for the city to generate revenue. Also, if there are kids running in the streets as there must be to justify this sort of thing it will let them know that there is a car coming. Sooner or later people will refuse to allow this sort of thing in their neighborhoods.
