Interstate 10 near Exit Number 44
Be warned: I-10 through Mississippi has lots of traffic and it’s share of accidents and is chock full of Very Bad, agressive, fast, disrespectful, and dangerous drivers. Things have been kind of haphazard since Katrina with enforcement, as these days it tends to vary. Jackson County: You don’t see the MHP or JCSO out too much out here (too bad!) and thus you have to contend with plenty of left-lane screamers. JCSO does not use radar or laser. In Biloxi, there is about a 5-mile stretch of I-10 from I-110 to the Biloxi/Gulfport line that is still heavily and aggresively patrolled by Biloxi PD, particularly at night. They even have a pretty fast (marked) mid-90’s black Camaro ready to chase down perps. Gulfport PD also regularly patrols I-10, but IMO Biloxi has a better presence. Harrison County SO is also around, but I tend to see them placed more in the western 1/2 of the county… They have a few B&W Mustangs they use and also Tahoes for what looks like pretty aggressive commercial vehicle enforcement. Miss. HP is also around… Don’t see them much, but their focus, I’m told, is drug interdiction. It’s kind of hit and miss… Keep your eyes open and don’t get too comfortable. You never know when they’ll decide to step things up again.
