Interstate 10 West Bound near Interstate 310 South Bound
When traveling West on I-10, as you leave Jefferson Parish and enter St. Charles Parish, this is where I-10 becomes elevated in order to cross the Bonne Carrie Spillway. The speed limit is 60 at this point, but people usually drive 70 to 80. For the last few months, usually in the early morning hours, say 6 AM to 8 AM, the LSP will line up several cars on the side of the Interstate, with the first car you come up to shooting laser at the on-coming traffic; the other Troopers are there to flag down the drivers and write the tickets. The LSP will usually give 9 MPH over the limit, but 10 MPH over can get you a ticket, and the price of the ticket nearly doubles in St. Charles Parish if you a caught going 15 MPH over. This trap has started operation within the last two months, and is usually active about two days a week.
