Interstate 20 near Exit Number 153

Delhi, LouisianaJul 08, 20052 Comments

They sit out on interstate 20 practically all day in Dodge Durangos. Except maybe the middle of the day when its really hot. Anywhere 2-3 miles each side of Delhi exit. Also the city is BAD about traps as well.
They are quoted in the newspaper as "going to increase revenue from tickets by 2 to 3 times over the last administration".

Comments:
The PD spends almost all it's time in the median. The car is marked Delhi Marshall. The only reasion he is there is to generate revenue for a dying town. That portion of I 20 was annexed just for that purpose. Anyone who has actually visited the "metropolis of Delhi" would see there is nothing there. No business nothing. The entire town would cover maybe 5 square blocks. There is no doubt I 20 is a gold mine for the town. The bridge and 153 are the boundaries. Be careful!

You're thinking of Delta, which is about 30 miles down the interstate from Delhi. That's where the marshal sits on the interstate. Delhi is a bigger town, and has it's own reputation as a speed trap, although it's not as bad as Delta. Delhi cops have been known to do real police work from time to time. Delta isn't enough of a town to really worry about and the marshal has nothing better to do than run a speed trap.
