Interstate 271 near Interstate 59/271
The interstate is 55 mph after you cross 59 and is strictly enforced by Poteau City police and OHP

1: It's not an interstate, this is a US Route (small distinction, but important).
2: The decrease in speed is part of a normal step-down on the way to 35 mph as 271 goes straight through the middle of Poteau.
3: Maybe it was different in 2007, but it is now well-marked ahead of time that the speed will be changing.
