Interstate 29 near Interstate 90 Junction

Sioux Falls, South DakotaApr 01, 20082 Comments

If you are heading on I-29 north, as soon as you are approaching Sioux Falls, the speed limit reduces to 65 while going uphill. When the police are out, they like to sit right at the bottom of the hill so there is absolutely no chance for you to slow down in time. It’s near the 60th St. N. exit/I-90 Junction.

Stopped for speeding in a 65 mph zone. Came off 229 and got onto I90 East. Do not remember seeing anything posted as a 65 mph zone. Did see a 80 mph zone posted mile or two down the road. About the same time I was then stopped by SD state patrol for speeding. Radar gun had me at Actual 79 and MPH 75. Explained I didn't see anything posted as 65 mph. Instead wrote me a ticket for $105. Nice. First speeding ticket ever. Seriously considering fighting this one. I'm not one who makes a habit of speeding and this is unbelievable. Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem along this stretch of Interstate.

me too, probably the same state prick got me. i was coming east on I-90 from Murdo and i sure as hell didn't see any 65 mph sign, i thot i was in the 80 zone, he nailed me at 86 but wrote me for the same exact thing as you, 75 for a $105 tckt. he told me that 65 is only for 2 mi, the rest is 80 til u get to minn then it's 70. I'm seriously considering fighting this, this is total speed trap bull shit + is it even legal for him to arbitrarily change the ticket down like that? that alone should be grounds for dismissal. i am going to talk to an atty there, that's for sure.
