This is a very common location for aircraft speed details. Each detail runs for 4 hours and consists of the MSP Cessna 182 and 4-6 troopers on the ground writing tickets. They typically will write 75-100 tickets per detail. Common times are M-F 0800-1200 or Saturdays 1100-1500. Speeds are typically 80+ although they will stop a 78 if things are slow (not common).
The trap is typically on the northbound side of 295. Vehicles are clocked by aircraft as far south as mile 43. Othertimes, a trooper will sit at Mile 49 and hit the northbound cars with radar or laser. Cars used for these speed details include marked and unmarked medium-blue Crown Vics, an unmarked charcoal Crown Vic, and a maroon unmarked Chevy Impala equipped with front and rear facing radar antennas.

Other locations for the same type of trap include Mile 114 (Sidney), Mile 160 Etna/Dixmont and an area 10 miles south of Houlton.
