The local Highway patrol office located in Yreka apparently needs lots of money to keep it open and the I5 stretch is a great source of income for them; both on the down hill entering Yreka from Oregon and on the stretch by the Weed Airport. I have received numerous tickets in this area. One was written for going 101 miles an hours. I think the officer never thought that someone from SF would come to his town to contest it. I did and the judge dropped it to "going over the speed limit". He did not reduce the extra fine however –instead opted to ok me for traffic school.
