All the trees have been cut down due to new construction and widening of the highway... no trees for local cops to hide in but they are still on the prowl in the main lanes...

That's true, the trees are cut down. They mostly sit on the side of 59 at night with all lights off.

Splendora has been a speed trap for decades. At first it was 1-2 miles of US59 and a postage stamp in another town. They need to shut these places down as a menace to public safety. Two thugs showed up in Dallas early on a Saturaday morning at my parents house. Glad they they did not start any thing as dad was a WWII vet and probably had a higher opinion of Nazis.
