Interstate 71 near Exit Number 10-12 Northbound

Arlington Heights, OhioMay 21, 20046 Comments

Yeah, Boss Hogg would love this beauty of a trap just north of the Ronald Reagan / Cross County Highway. Cop sits on an on ramp onto I-71. Speed limit is 55, most do 70 going through here. Poor town. Need the revenue. I think only 1/10 of a mile actually goes through the town.. where the cop sits.

Comments:
The village usually only tickets those going more than 70 mph. The village is small, and yes the revenue helps, but on the other hand if you get a ticket it is because you are going faster, usually much faster, than the legal limit. Oh, and lest I forget, Arlington Heights is not on or near I-71, maybe you were a bit confused as to where you were when you got the ticket?

Yes, Arlington Hgts. is along I-75. Yes, it is a dump of a town that considers their sliver of I-75 a revenue stream. Yes, where they sit - in the "V" between the off ramp and the highway - is crazy dangerous, especially since it's on a curve. No, they don't just stop people "going . . . much faster than the legal limit". Depending on the traffic at the time and how aggressively the particular officer is chasing his ticket quota, they'll stop you for 5 over.

Arlington Heights is on I-75 North & South bound, not I-71. It is important to know that there are two small towns next to each other at this location: Lockland & Arlington Heights. South bound Lockland is before Arlington, each of them like to get a piece of the action. The area is further recognized (South bound) by the old canal walls, which you drive between. These walls are after passing the GE Jet Engine Plant on the left in Evandale. I, too was nailed by Arlington Heights and the officer was so excited he missed that my turn signals and brake lights were in-operable at the time of ticketing. If you voice your opinion they will add 'Reckless Driving' to the citation. Even though the communitees are small, the I-75 passes over each and of course they are completely fenced from any possible approach to the interstate other than a couple of ramps. Yes, not only a speed trap, but highly dangerous area when everyone hits the brakes, not much room to manuever. Be cautious.

Ahhha ... do any of you guys even know what a speed LIMIT is??? All the way from downtown Cinti to I275, the limit is 55! And from Evendale all the way passed the River it is 55.

You poor babies should re-read your own comments about the road and the traffic and maybe you can figure out why the limit is 55mph.

i think some of these people defending the speed trap sound like they may work there.... maybe ones in charge? get off the computer and earn your money... bottom line this village has to have the money... From a concerned resident
