Interstate 90 near Mile Marker 15

Issaquah, WashingtonNov 26, 20051 Comments

State Patrol sedans and motorcycles are always in the median just west of the SR900 exit in Issaquah.

They get eastbound travelers accelerating down the hill into Issaquah. You can easily exceed 70 down that hill and the limit is 60.
Westbound, it’s about 1/2 mile after a carpool lane starts and they’re always pulling over single car drivers who don’t move over fast enough.
I drive to Issaquah M-F and see a trooper in that median at least once a week. Morning or evening rush, doesn’t matter.

They say that Issaquah is an Indian word for "speed trap". I believe it.

Comments:
If one recognizes the location of the State Patrol office in Eastgate it is not hard to imagine that there could be a lot of enforcement of speed limits in the area. In my experience, the most likely places to be subjected to speed monitoring are heading east on I-90 just beyond the 148th ave exit and al the way down the hill to Exit 15 - the first Issaquah exit and the exit to the State Park and to SR 900. I usually move over to the right lane once I pass Eastgate and just follow traffic speed all the way through Issaquah. I do think the absolute "best" place to get nailed is driving westbound into the Issaquah area where the speed limt changes from 70 to 60. So often there is a WSP car parked on the left side of I-90 as the traffic passes Front Street I'm thinking it might be confused as a monument.
