Interstate 94 near Exit Number 26

Chesterton, IndianaDec 30, 20032 Comments

Just past the Chesterton exit (26) on I-94 westbound, there is a fairly good curve and a bridge. State troopers like to sit hidden well in the left lane shoulder by the bridge and will catch people coming by in the hammer lane. Sometimes they work alone and will put out and pull over, other times they have "buddies" sitting up ahead and will radio to the descriptions of offending cars and they will pull over too. This is just past where the speed limit is reduced from 65 to 55 for the next 26 miles to Illinois border. Speed limit should remain 65 till at least exit 15, but this is a good revenue maker for the state. Sometimes marked cars, usually unmarked crown vics, or camaros.

Comments:
The speed limit has been raised to 70mph. The cops don't sit there anymore. The speed limit drops from 70 to 55 at the county line.

I wouldn't count on the cops staying away from there forever. The cops know about this site and read these posts. I'm sure they'll go back to old haunts if we start saying nobody is there any more-even if nobody is there any more.
