Interstate 95 near Exit Number 79

Richmond City, VirginiaJan 07, 20053 Comments

Officers from the VA State Police, Henrico County and Richmond City are on a ticket-writing blitz. I-95 from Parham Road to Bells Road (about fifteen miles of the road) has been declared a "highway safety corridor" as of January 7th, 2005. Fines will be as high as $500 for speeding and $2500 for DUI or reckless operation! The speed limit is posted (too low) at 55 mph — and they really are enforcing it. To be fair, however, it has been put out across the media and signs are posted as a warning to all. This action comes as a result of an unusually high number of crashes in recent months. Speed is not always the culprit, however, as most people here just can’t drive very well. 🙁 Too bad they are not ticketing "left lane hogs" or people who do not use their signals when making lane changes.

The comment concerning the idiots in the left lane ..................... Right on !

Crime is out of sight in the "City of the Monuments" and Richmond PD units are constantly on the interstate instead of fighting crime in the city. But they are producing revenue for the state literacy fund...

No doubt about this being a spped trap. I got a ticket at mile marker 79 and having traveled through that area numerous times I knew better. I actually was shocked that the state trooper pulled in behind me when I pulled over to let him pass as there were 2 vehicles in front of me going much faster than I was. Of course they had Virginia plates and I had out of state plates. Not syaing that they target out of state drivers but I know I was not traveling the speed he said he clocked me at.
