Interstate 95 near Harvey Road

Wilmington, DelawareMar 22, 20051 Comments

Delaware State Police will routinely run radar on I-95 north of the City of Wilmington up to the PA State line. The motive is that their are only 2 lanes of travel in each direction separated by a grassy median, combined with speed limits of only 55. Conversely, it is very difficult for the Delaware State Police to run radar on I-95 south of Wilmington to the MD State line due to the amount of traffic in all 4 lanes in each direction.

Comments:
Three places in this area. 1. Paved cross-over about 1/4 mile south of the northbound Harvey Rd. exit ramp. They work traffic in both directions from here. The cross-over is shielded by high mounds left from when I-95 was rebuilt several years ago. Watch for the brake lights coming on in either direction. 2. The right shoulder of the long righthand curve just past the Harvey Rd. overpass going north. They use this a lot early in the morning before it gets light out. 3. Paved cross-over just north of the Naamans Rd overpass just about at the DE/PA line. Both states troopers use this cross-over frequently, but it is visible from both directions for a pretty good distance. If you get nailed here, you ain't paying attention. Most of the time they don't have their radar turned on here. They are just slowing traffic down by being there.
