Interstate Highway 85

Gila Bend, ArizonaJun 19, 20021 Comments

Department of Public Safety(D.P.S.-Highway Patrol). Regularily patrol 33-mile strip, hiding in locations, known by locals. I feel, the city of Gila Bend, recieves monies from the traps/tickets and D.P.S. I just want to warn Californians and others about this route.

Comments:
this actually is Interstate 8 (which runs from Casa Grande to Yuma) -- there is not Interstate 85 in Arizona. I-85 is in Georgia and North and South Carolina. that said, on arizona STATE ROUTE 85, between I-10 to the north, and the town of Gila Bend to the south, the Arizona DPS is always active with radar, especially at the northern end. You are doing a legal 75 on the Interstate, then turn south on AZ 85, and tend to go way over the posted 55. I got a ticket there for 'wasting natural resources' because I was on a motorcycle moving with traffic, and the DPS officer did not actually get a radar reading. It pays to be wary on AZ 85, especially now that much of the northern section has been widened into divided roadway!
