While it’s not technically a trap, there seems to be considerable coverage for this stretch of road. I would guess that 50% of the time I’m on this road, I see a CHP. I’ve seen them lurking (hiding?) on two locations – behind the shooting club sign and down in a hollow near some RR tracks. I’m not sure why this is such a hot bed for the CHP other than it’s probably pretty easy pickins – most people (myself included) exceed the speed limit on this road because it is just a wide open road (with the exception of a couple of speed reduced curves). Be sure to keep your eyes peeled while on this short (8 miles?) stretch of road.
