Jupiter Road by Bowman Middle School between Park and Parker

Plano, TexasSep 19, 20104 Comments

Police sit in the Schell Park parking lot and(sometime 2 cars at once). They sit there all day. Speed limit is 35(except school hours and it drops to 20) but always take it down to 30 because in the 6 years I have been traveling this road, I have watched hundreds of people get pulled over that maybe were going 40. The saddest thing is that this is a school zone and many morning I have seen where there is no crossing guard. Most mornings only one and it is six lanes. Seems to me the better spent money would be on making sure these kids cross the road safe!

Comments:
They are there, however, they do not sit there all day long.

I live in the area and I wish they would run radar on Friday nights. They would fill the coffers up in a hurry as people think this is a racetrack on that night of the week. I salute the police for giving tickets. I have lived off of Jupiter for over 20 years. I don't see them every day, but then again I don't travel up Jupiter everyday.

There were 2 motorcycle cops hunting there at about 8:30. He said summer school was in session and that may be true but my guess is there was not more than 10 students in summer school at Bowman. Why do the Plano cops target school zones other than the fact that is where they can make the most money and the prey is easy to hunt down. Why aren't the Plano cops hunting on Central Expressway because it is far more dangerous and vulnerable to accendents than say Jupiter road. Maybe the Police are familiar with a version of Willy Sutton's comment about why he targetsed banks for robbing, "That's where the money is." In the Plano school zones, "That's where the money is." Cops could care less about public safety.
