Just before Dinosaur Co

highway 40 from Utah going into Dinosaur Colorado. Speed limit goes from 70 to 30 to 70 in less than a mile. NO "Reduced speed ahead" signs

Comments:
The best way to travel from just-before-Dinosaur to the other side of Rangely is to get out and CARRY your car! I think traffic income is just about the only income Dinosaur has. I drive a sports car, so I once FOLLOWED a county sheriff at ten-below the speed limit, from Rangely past Dinosaur. I'm as sure as I can be that had I passed him, I would have been stopped and ticketed. Needless to say, I always gas up and eat heartily before approaching that area, lest I spend any money there!

A couple of problems with the first poster.......Speed limit goes from 65 (Maximum speed limit from UT to Dinosaur, not 70) to 40, which is the speed limit all the way through town rather than 30 unless turning towards Rangely. If this be the case, you have to make a 90 degree turn onto highway 64 which would entail slowing to a near stop, then it's 30 mph until you are south of town. True, the 65 to 40 mph happens in a little less than a mile but with a reduced speed sign to 55 about 1/2 mile out. All I see here is a sour grapes posting from someone who can't obey the law.
