just crossing the Champlain Bridge- VT Routes 17East & VT Route 125East
Speed limit is unrealistic, Addison County sheriffs are ruthless to out-of-staters and will write tickets for as little as 3 (yes, 3!!!) mph over the post limit of 40. On Route 125East, there at least 4 place they sit before the speed limit goes to 50mph. One Route 17East, these sheriffs usually sit near the West Addison General store or further down the Lake Shore Road. Expect no trouble from the State Troopers in this area.

I happen to be one of those who enforce the speed limits in West Addison and want to comment on the person who indicated that tickets are given out for three (3) mph over the limit of 30. This is an outright lie, pure and simple. There are so many people going over fifteen to twenty mph above the posted limit of 30 that we can't keep up with them, never mind even looking at somebody going three mph over the limit. Quite simply, I don't even look at the vehicle if they aren't going more than 8-10 mph over the limit. So, to the person who perpetrated this lie about three mph over, try again, people aren't as stupid as you would like to think. Be safe out there, the bottom line in speed control is always safety.
