On U.S. Hwy. 95, just north of I-10 near the tiny town of Vicksburg, AZ, a construction zone was set up. The speed limit went from 55mph to 25mph with specially added signs in a very short span. The deputy sheriff was set up behind the 25mph sigh in a dip that is common to surface roads in this part of the country where floodwaters are directed over the road surface (often marked with “Dip” or “Do Not Enter When Flooding” signs).

The construction zone was set up about a half mile from where the construction was taking place to be able to take advantage of the “Dip” in the road. I was sited for not slowing down for a construction zone And for speeding and the two came to a $513 total fine.

So between the usage of the dip with the convenient stretching of the construction zone Far beyond anything necessary and doubling the fine total to an outrageous amount by charging me for the same thing twice, I say Beware of Arizona Back Country highways!!!! They are trying to balance the state’s budget deficit on the backs of tourists!!!!!

It’s a beautiful state but I will Never Be Back!
