Just south of Clarendon, Texas on Hwy 287

Clarendon, TexasMar 27, 20131 Comments

I was pulled over and ticketed for not having a license plate on the front of my vehicle. The plate was not attached well and was lost. Yes I am guilty and deserve the ticket. However while I was on the side of Hwy 287 near Clarendon being ticketed, I saw THREE other vehicles pulled over by other patrol cars. To say that Clarendon TX and Donley County does not operate a very active and evidently profitable speed trap operation is to be blind to the evidence. I will be using I40 and avoiding Clarendon TX for my trips in the future.

Comments:
Clarendon, Texas is a speed trap. I will not go into detail about our stop but let's say - it was not right. Did you know that 25% of all traffic stops are in error? Radar is not infallible and neither are humans. A mistake was made and we paid the fine even though we knew it was wrong. Paying the fine was not an admission of guilt. My husband was having surgery coming up quickly and we just wanted to put this horrible experience behind us. We will forever avoid Donley County. We have been going through there since the late 70's spending money on gas, snacks, meals, etc. Never again. I am telling you - avoid this county.
