Kenilworth Boulevard

Area between downtown & Springfield Ave. Sit on side of lonf straigfht section aiming at oncoming traffic. Limit is 25 MPH. Easy pick on Radar Detector but surprisingly easy to miss if not paying attention.

Comments:
This is definitely a Speed trap. It's a county road, so the town of Kenilworth uses the excuse that it is not in their jurisdiction. The limit is 25 mph. Union County Students and residents are ticketed daily. You will see 2-3 Police cars driving in the speed trap area, one white Suv parked with a radar and cars being pulled every few minutes. I received a $200 fine. I will end up paying much more after trying to fight it in court. The County needs to address this issue. An engineer study should be reviewed and reapplied, because soon after the Speed trap the speed limit goes back up to 35 mph. Safety is the officer's reasoning, however there are many other parks with pedestrians crossing and the speed limit is over 25 mph. There is a children's playground across from Union County College in Cranford, where children and students cross everyday and the speed limit there is 35 mph.
