LaFayette Avenue near Tiger Trail

Fayetteville, GeorgiaJul 26, 20071 Comments

Police sit at the bottom of the hill. There is a 25mph sign posted so close to the turn onto LaFayette that it’s behind you before you have completed the turn. I’ve seen up to 3 officers with people pulled over at the same time.

Comments:
I turned off Glynn St (GA Hwy. 85) to avoid traffic jam at top of the hill, Glynn @ Ga 54. Speed limit on Glynn where I turned off is 40 mph. LaFayette Ave. between Glynn and Tiger Trail is 2 lanes West and 1 lane East. I was alone on the street and wasn't aware of speeding. I was on the way to see my 90 year old wife in a nursing about 3 miles further West. I slowed to a stop at Tiger Trail and eased out into a left turn. Traffic from the left is obscured by bushes and undergrowth, As I started up Tiger Trail the squad car came out of "nowhere" behind me. He claimed I was driviing 46 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. This definitely a speed trap. On GA Hwy. 54 west from Glynn St., the speed limit is 45mph . People regularly exceed the limit but no cops do anything about it.
