When returning from South Padre Island and exiting the causeway there is always one or two Port Isable city policemen ready to ticket you. Speed Limit 20 Unreasonable

Comments:
Speed limit is 30, not 20! I know, I live there!

I am a local resident for 6 months of the year. I keep another state plates on some cars and TX plates on the car I keep for business. I travel every week to SPI and normally obey the signs becasue I KNOW their revenue is from speeding fines. I was driving my car, with TN plates, thru Port Isabel when I was pulled over by the local police. I was in a 30 and had turned off the cruise to slow down when I saw the warning sign. GPS said I was dong 33 as did the digital on my car. Police said I was doing 42. I asked to see the evidence, since in most states you can. He told me quickly that in Texas it was his word against mine, he did not by law have to show me anything and I should pay the fine. $170.00 to the coffers of this little hamlet. Is it a speed trap? You bet you life it is. EVERY time you go thru this town, you see 1 or 2 police with the lights on. Everyone should watch out.
