Longport Bridge

Ocean City, New JerseyMar 26, 20104 Comments

A speed limit of 25 miles an hour; police cars are parked just beyond the toll plaza as you come back on the island; also in the fishermen’s parking lot at the other end of the bridge. The downgrade is so steep at both ends that, even w/ foot off the gas pedal, it’s almost impossible not to excede 25 MPH.

Comments:
Is it Ocean City of Egg Harbor Twp writing the tickets?? Be reasonable with the speed and you won't be bothered on the EHT side of the bridge and remember all of the people trying to walk across the road at the fishing pier side. Give them a "brake" while crossing in the marked cross walk.

The 25 speed limit is because the people in the Gardens insisted on it and the County gave in. That's also way their are no lights on the bridge. It's a speed trap on the OC side and they sit on top of the bridge,

In New Jersey, there has to be a "buffer zone" after a hill or decline - in other words, police can not legally set up a trab at the base of a hill or any type of steep decline. There has tp be a few hundred feet between their "trap" and the base or end of the hill. This is codified in the NJ motor vehicle code. If the police are allowed to violate laws, why can't we??? Oh, that's right .... they are allowed!
