Lynes Parkway near US Highway 21

Garden City, GeorgiaNov 02, 20071 Comments

As cars come over the overpass and enter Garden City the road changes from 55 mph to 45mph and police cars sit just over the overpass and clock you as you come over the hill. They are not visable until they have read your speed which is higher than posted most times because it is a six lane road that is the ending of a 55mph parkway. They usually have several cars to read the speed and others to run down the motorists. The activity has not been quite as aggressive in the last few months, I believe they probably had lots of complaints. It was not equally enforced either. My sister got a warning. I got a ticket for the same infraction and the same amount of speed and was told that they could not issue warnings. I’m 20 years older than my sister, hummm.

I know this is an old post I'm responding to, but what the heck. First, Hwy 21 is not six lanes coming off the parkway; it's four...two head south and two head north. Second, if you can't see the officer clocking you because you're over a hill, then he/she can't see you either; radar and lidar do no "go over hills or around curves." Thirdly, it is true that the speed limit changes from 55 to 45, but what most people don't realize is that the people who are getting the tickets are usually running in excess of 70 MPH which means they were already speeding in the 55 zone. And lastly, if you were going 55 in the 55 you would never get stopped for speeding. The posted speed limit is the Maximum Speed Limit you are supposed to be going...there is no "lead way." People confuse state laws that govern speed with state laws that govern use of radar. My suggestion is don't speed and you'll never have to worry about getting a speeding citation. The bonus...You make the highways safer for you and everyone else. You should be thanking the cop who might have saved you from having a speed related crash.
