The speed limit of 35 mph is strictly enforced with zero tolerance once you enter the Punta Gorda city limits after exiting Interstate 75, as well as along US 41. Charlotte County, north of the Peace River is also a zero tolerance area with County sheriffs’cars often being unmarked, low profile vehicles. Charlotte County has publicly stated that if you break the law in any way you will be caught and this includes unpublished traffic stops.
