Maryland Heights Expressway near Creve Coeur Mills Road
Multiple officers are positioning themselves on the inner median (Maryland Heights Expressway northbound) between Creve Coeur Mills Road and the next (casino exit) intersection. From here, police are claiming to use LIDAR for traffic enforcement but are actually just standing in the road randomly pointing for vehicles, regardless of actual speed, to pull over onto the inner median whereupon a speeding ticket is written. As such, I don’t believe any amount of caution except avoiding the expressway entirely will allow you to avoid being caught up in this. Four vehicles were lined up to receive tickets today at the time I was pulled over. Apparently, the expressway is now considered to be a municipal revenue smorgasbord. Police presence is always heavy on Maryland Heights Expressway, but this speed trap is egregious. Encourage all victims of this abuse to cease patronizing businesses in Maryland Heights and write letters of complaint to the mayor and all city council members.
