Mound Road near Davison Area

Detroit, MichiganNov 13, 20071 Comments

The police have been out in force on Mound between the Davison and Mc Nichols (Mc Nichols is also known as ‘6 mile’ locally) area since the early part of this month. Last week, I saw no fewer than 5 patrol cars within this range. What makes this especially odd is that there is only a distance of under 1,000 feet between the two roads! Two of them had cars pulled over. Yesterday (Monday), there were three patrol cars on this stretch of road, all with cars pulled over. Today, I saw one car pulled over a second squad car zooming after another motorist w/ his lights flashing. Why this particular, relatively small section of Mound has been targeted is unclear, but I strongly urge anyone driving through the area during the A.M. hours to avoid it altogether if possible or take extra special care. Nearby roads such as Ryan or Mt. Elliot could be used, although please note that Mt. Elliot ends at 8 mile (i.e., ‘Baseline Road’)

Comments:
The Mound RD/Davison intersection is a speed trap, and a trap to catch people making an illegal left turn from east bound Davison to north bound Mound. They changed the sign about a year ago, and people still occasionally miss it and make a direct turn. The Northeastern District of the Detroit Police is nearby on Nevada Street, in between the Mound and Ryan prisons.
