Murphy’s Grade Road near State Highway 49
When heading East from Hwy 49 on Murphy’s Grade Road, the speed limit drops from 35 mph to 25 mph almost instantly. Sheriff’s Dept lies in wait, and by the time you slow down, they’ve already got you. This is as you approach Calaveras H.S. This was also on the weekend.

It's Bret Harte High School and they hang on the side street opposite the football field.
I think you mean Bret Harte HS, don't you?.......through the school is a 25 mile speed limit where my 2 grandchildren go to school................slow down.
If we all drove at the speed limit we would never be stopped. So what is the issue??? There are reasons that the speed limits are posted. People fly through this little community going 10-15 miles per hour over the posted speed limits. We have very narrow streets, some areas with NO sidewalks, children, elderly folks and animals out on these streets. Can folks please just leave home 5 minutes earlier so you can make it to wherever it is you are in a hurry to get to!!! PLEASE!! And please stop talking on your cell phones! It is against the law!!
