N. Indian Creek Road near Church Street

It is citywide, actually, in the City of Clarkston, especially toward the end of the month when the enforcement steps up dramatically.

Officers are unduly rough, and rather verbally abusive. The fines are enormous, and the City Court system quite offensive if it gets that far.

The speed limit throughout the city of Clarkston is 30 mph . . . including busy streets. Just recently, a 60 year old grandmother who is a member of our church was arrested and taken to jail because she was reportedly speeding in a school zone. It took ALL NIGHT and more than $1000 in personal funds to get her out. – no prior record, etc., and her only offense was that she failed to get out of her car quickly enough to satisfy the officer’s request that she do so, and when she DID get out, she told him she was sick and needed her medication. He wouldn’t let her get her purse out of the car.

When she told him she was on the way to church for choir practice, he asked for the church’s number. She reached in the window and picked up her purse to get the number, and he shoved her against her car, cuffed her and shoved her in the cruiser. He tried to claim she was reaching for a weapon and that he feared for his life.

The fine for speeding was over $600.00 – – – for going 38 in a 30 mph zone.

Be careful in Clarkston, GA.
