NE 155th St. and 14th Ave. NE

Shoreline, WashingtonDec 29, 20093 Comments

The police car is parked on the south side of NE 155th St. at the base of a long gradual 2/10 of a mile hill. The posted speed is 30mph. Since cars naturally pick up a bit of speed descending on a long hill it is easy to hand out tickets here. The police can be found here during noonish hours several times a week. The cop points his laser gun up the hill at descending cars headed eastbound (towards Fircrest).

Comments:
Somebody marked several of these Shoreline speed traps as "Not a speed trap." My guess would be the poster is connected to law enforcement in Shoreline. The City of Shoreline is at present running many flagrant speed traps which can be easily observed, such as the one they caught me in as detailed above. I have taken pictures at various times of the police car parked exactly as I detailed, and then later I have pictures of the police car having pulled over the victim. If somebody wants copies of my pictures leave an email here. I plan to present my evidence to the city council in due course, and if they care to get elected again they should consider their stance on this predatory policing. Police in Shoreline can be found in two places, and two places only as far as I can observe: speed traps and Starbucks.

Just an FYI, they are there in the morning hours as well. Every day in the morning around 7:30am- 8:45am they are there and usually pulling people over right on 15th ave ( you have to turn left or right onto 15th ave from 155th), and coincidentally its right in front of our home, sometimes even blocking the driveway or our view of the street and oncoming traffic. The speed limit on 155th is 30mph, but as the other driver reported there is a hill, and of course your car goes a little faster, so remember to step on the brakes as you descend and avoid getting pulled over in front of our house. Just always assume he is there, because he sits on either side of the road and there are several times he has pulled over multiple people for "speeding". To the above: you can sit in our driveway and watch him all morning long pulling people over. Its insane how much money they are making off those poor people. I am really unhappy about their tactics, my child gets worried all the time that we are going to go to jail because he is almost ALWAYS outside our driveway with lights flashing and some poor driver. Im tired of seeing the lights and his face when getting my child to school. Just annoying.

If you live right there and you disapprove, would you be willing to attend a city council meeting to register your complaints? The only real defense they would have for this is that maybe they could claim "residents demand cars slow down on the hill" but if in fact you are right there and it bothers you, then your complaint would carry a great deal of weight. My opinion is that what they are doing amounts to simply legal theft. The cars that are pulled over are a danger to no one. The danger, if any, is being distracted while driving while keeping a lookout for these predators, and I know that is a rhetorical word, but it fits.
