New Jersey Turnpike near Mile Marker 56
The roadway makes an obvious descent to a low point in a valley between exits 7 and 7A – around mile marker 56. In the middle of the valley there is an entrance to an "official vehicles" road that crosses the highway, allowing reversal of direction and access to a maintenance yard on the northbound side.
Radar units frequently set their vehicles slightly inside the opening, facing oncoming traffic. I have most often noted surveillance during rush hour periods; 7-10am on northbound side and 4-7pm on the southbound side but it’s a popular ambush site and may occasionally be used at other times throughout the day.
Instant on is the weapon of choice. Best to slow down before the grade and resume speed on the other side.
