North of Lake Sammamish Exits

Bellingham, WashingtonApr 06, 20100 Comments

Northbound I-5 Coming from Skagit Valley the speed is reduced to 60 from 70 as you enter the Lake Sammamish S-curves. This change is on a downhill slop. There are 2 Heavily Used trap spots in this stretch before you hit Fairhaven/Bellingham exits. It is best to cruise control all the way into Bellingham as they ticket you for 5+ no matter what. They believe you’re a visitor too lazy to fight it. First one is 1/4 mile after the speed change, they can see you cresting the hill before you see them at the first S-turn to the left. Second is after the Sammamish exit near the last 2 curves before the Fairhaven exit. The curves start to climb slightly and that is where they wait to see you before you see them.
