North on Highway 84 just before Vallecitos Rd.
A downhill stretch of 4-lane highway goes from 55 mph to 45 mph and narrows to 2-lane. Often policed by teams of Alameda County Sheriffs or California Highway Patrol.

Actually its 55mph limit that goes down to 50 right at the eastern entrance to Ruby Hill. The cops will run LIDAR and radar from several vantage points:
a) on the east side of 84, just after the "curve" (still referring to the Ruby Hill "side" of 84)
b) on the east side in the driveway/road opposite the Ruby Hill entrance
c) on the west side of 84, sometimes in the "access" road (the old route of 84)
On the other side, the Vallecitos side, you have to be careful everywhere as well but particularly watch for:
a) CHP or ACSO parked on the Vallecitos side in the "access" road (old route of 84)
b) on the ranch side, in driveways or just on the shoulder.
c) up at entrance to Vallecitos itself
