North Street near Thompson Street

Springfield, OhioJan 08, 20081 Comments

I encountered this trap traveling East into Springfield on North Street. The speed limit changes as the road Route 4 goes into Springfield and changes to North Street; the limit goes from 65 to 50 to 45 to 35 and that is where the cop will tag you, between Thompson and Bechtle, right after the road curves. I have taken notice that one specific officer had 56 written citations in a 49 day period. I have also researched and found many other officers within this timeframe have written roughly the same (possibly more) in this same location.

Comments:
First of all, the speed goes from 65 to 45, there are signs clearly marked telling you that the speed is reducing ahead, thats as you are first entering town, because there is a traffic signal over the top of a hill that you can not see. Then a mile after that there are more signs telling that speed is reducing to 35 ahead, then the speed is reduced to 35 as you enter the combined residential and business area. Then after you pass 3 more signs telling you that the speed limit is 35, or for just over a half of a mile, you enter an area that is very high in motor vehicle crashes, fatal and serious injury. You did all this research, but I don't see that mentioned anywhere. It is so bad that the 35 speed limit sign in that area has a radar unit in it and tells passing motorist how fast they are going. You sir, I can guarantee with certainty that you were traveling faster than 12 mph over the speed limit. There are no sudden drops in the speed limits are there are several warnings for you to slow down. You were not paying attention, and are mad that you got caught this one time in a million for speeding.
