Two construction Zones involving BOTH SOUTHBOUND AND NORTHBOUND travel between EXIT 35 and EXIT 36—Speed reduced first to 55 approaching, then to 45 through TWO SOUTHBOUND actual bridge replacement areas—-southbound traffic is reduced to the LEFT LANE with crossovers….AND, NORTHBOUND is reduced to the RIGHT DRIVING LANE. Speed is reduced to 55 for the approx. 2 miles between the two actual construction zones, including the northbound PERU REST AREA. Speed limits are routinely enforced. Fines are doubled for infractions in this entire area.

As of 30 October, 2015, there remains a single SOUTHBOUND lane closure and speed restriction as construction barriers and contractor equipment are being removed. However, new bridges have been completed and NORTHBOUND lane closures have been eliminated and the SOUTHBOUND bridges are open.
Speed enforcement remains above average.
This one WILL resume in this same stretch of I-87 come Spring---only the crossovers & lane closures will be reversed---they've already done the crossover paving ....NYSDOT is going to replace the TWO NORTHBOUND bridges!
Right now, there remain numerous barricades and equipment for them to hide behind---and THEY are still hiding occasionally. Happy Winter---but watch out! ;>)
As of 12/01/16, this speed trap no longer exists----bridge construction, lane closures, and traffic crossovers have been removed. The normal 65mph speed limit has returned. HOWEVER, original/normal crossovers continue to be occasionally inhabited by the nice guys & girls in grey (TUVM)!
