Oakland, Tn. from West to East city limits

Oakland, TennesseeMay 14, 20102 Comments

Oakland is no longer a speed trap, if it is possible to trap speeders. The new chief of police does not believe in traffic enforcement and the other crimes it solves. You seldom see a cop on Hwy 64 anymore.

Comments:
Oakland is NOT a speed trap. The police are simply ENFORCING the speed limit. Signs are posted plainly and you are given enough time to slow down. A novel idea to some I realize, but for this stretch of 5 lane road there are very very few accidents!

No Longer a speedtrap?!?! That whole Buford Pusser Highway (HWY 64) is nothing but speedtrap towns, competing for your business. Oakland is just one of them. Most people know of Oakland's reputation, and know to hit the brakes as the near it. But most people don't know that Oakland has annexed Hickory Withe, and its city limits go almost to the Shelby County line. Don't think Oakland PD doesn't take advantage of this. Its possible Oakland has backed off a bit because of a new mayor, who might want to get rid of the city's awful reputation. They may give you a 3-4 mph cushion, but don't play games with this town. It has no sense of humor.
