Old County Road

Old County Road is a road off rte. 1 into Rockland. Its starts right by PenBay Medical Center going south and ends somewhere south of Rockland on rte 1 again. As you go along the road the speed limit is 40 until you come down a hill and curve slightly to the right, where a sign of 25 appears from behind foliage. You have about 100 feet to react(This is a guess. It could be less). (There are no warning signs like "reduced speed zone ahead"). The cop will be sitting in an abandoned drive to the left when coming south. He is right there and there is no time to react. This trap is just North of the Municipal Golf Course. I received a $123 ticket for going "41 in a 25 mph zone". Incedentally, after you have passed the 25 mph sigh going south and the cop pullover, you will see in the opposite direction a sign for 40 mph. So which is it?

Comments:
This does not appear to confer to state requirements. Default limit is 45 mph. A speed survey is required for anything else, subject to review by the state. The limit should be the same in both directions on an undivided road.
