Old Woodward heading south to merge with Woodward (M-1), south of Maple
Although speed limit is 25 on Old Woodward in downtown Birmingham, you are expected to merge onto southbound Woodward, where the speed limit is 45, without accelerating! Be careful. I was told that as long as I was still on the two-lane Old Woodward and not yet onto the eight-lane Woodward Avenue, I must still stay below 25mph. Of course, it’s impossible to merge at that speed, but "That’s the law!"
